These are words that strengthen adverbs and adjectives.
1. Very is used to strengthen:
-the positive form of adjectives
-adjective+ noun
-adverbs
-many past participle adjectival forms
Mike is a very nice man.
You are very mistaken.
You are very mistaken.
2. Too (=more than is desirable) goes before adjectives and adverbs.
It’s too hot and I want to drink.

Her work is not too good.
3. Very much is used with comparatives, verbs, adjectives(afraid, awake, alive, alone)
I like your project very much.

4. The words ‘extremely‘, ‘really’ are used for special emphasis instead of very.
I’m extremely sleepy.

5. We use ‘terribly’, ‘awfully’ in place of ‘very’.
That hi fi is terribly expensive to buy.
