До групи «Артиклі з частиною дня» належать іменники: day, night, evening, morning, noon, afternoon, dusk, dawn, twilight, midnight, nightfall, daytime, sunrise, sunset.
Означений артикль вживається:
- для визначення певного часу доби, коли відбувається якась подія:
The rain had stopped and the night was starry.
The day of leaving was sunny.
The day of leaving was sunny.
- після прийменників in, during, through:
It was five o’clock in the afternoon.
I couldn’t call you during the day, I’m sorry;
I couldn’t call you during the day, I’m sorry;
- із займенником other.
I met him in the theater the other day.
Неозначений артикль використовується, якщо перед іменником стоїть описове означення (крім late та early):
It was a frosty night.Але!It was early morning.
