Прийменник місця in використовується для позначення місця, що має певну реальну або уявну межу, та передає значення «всередені»:

in the middle of — усередині, у центрі;
in Ukraine — в Україні;
in London — у Лондоні;
in the city centre — у центрі міста;
in a picture/photograph — на картині/фотографії;
in the river — у річці;
in the street — на вулиці.
