Квантифікатори, або визначники кількості (quantifiers) — це слова та вирази, які ставляться перед іменниками або займенниками для визначення кількості або об'єма.
Визначники кількості використовуються:
- З обчислювальними іменниками: many, (a) few, a number of, a couple of.
Приклад:
How many students are there in the class?
There were few apples in the box.
There were few apples in the box.
- З необчислювальними іменниками: much, (a) little, a (small/large) amount of, a bit of.
Приклад:
I don’t have much free time this week.
Would you like a bit of chocolate?
Would you like a bit of chocolate?
- З обчислювальними та необчислювальними іменниками: some, any, no, a lot of, lots of, plenty of.
Приклад:
There aren’t any cars on the road at the moment.
There isn’t any traffic on the road at the moment.
There isn’t any traffic on the road at the moment.
