Special questions (or "Wh"-questions)
To make a "Wh" question we usually put a question word (QW) before a construction of "Yes/No" questions:
QW + had + S + V3 … ?
E.g.
What had you done by ten o'clock yesterday?

In short answers we use pronouns (I, we, you, they, he, she, it).
E.g.
— Had John done his homework by ten o'clock yesterday?
— No, he hadn't. (NOT: No, John hadn't.)
